Portugal out of the World Cup despite the 2-1 win over Ghana

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the tournament as Portugal beat Ghana 2-1 but both teams were eliminated from the World Cup as the United States held on to second place in Group G despite their defeat by Germany.
Portugal knew only a win combined with a defeat for Germany or the United States in the other Group G fixture, plus a significant swing in goal difference, would take them through to the last 16.

Although Ronal netted his first goal of the tournament, the winner, it was his numerous misses that cost Portugal the sizeable victory they needed to make up for the 4-0 mauling they suffered by Germany in their first game.
Germany won the group by beating the US, who also qualified on goal difference over Portugal.

Good bye Spain- A tribute to World champion.

Sahayatrijapan tribute: Good bye Spain

Once Spain were the World and European champions, having won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.They also won Euro 2008, making them the only national team so far with three consecutive wins of either the applicable continental championship or the World Cup. But what went wrong in 2014 for the world's number one team who were  undefeated for a record-equaling 35 consecutive matches before their loss to the United States??

Sahayatrijapan.com express a tribute to Spain soccer team for the wonderful game while they remained world’s champion. Times and situation makes the thing happens and everybody knows that nothing lasts forever - kings, its empires and even life itself. That’s what the history is all about and where the history is written.  And 2014 may be the end of the Spain's reign in Soccer world.

It's not like everybody didn't wanted to see Spain losing the title, matter fact, it's the time that wanted to crown new World champion. And it’s brutal to see, one of the greatest team in the world ends like that. By the second game, Spain had conceded more goals - 7 - in two games in Brazil, than they had in all their 2010 World Cup, Euro 2008 and 2008 games together which was just a six goal. And it is very hard for everyone to see the world champion end like that. Even when Spain started their first match with the humiliating result from the Netherlands (1-5), no one expected the former world champion would return in their first game like that.

And that’s what the world cup is for, “unexpected results and surprises”, and this world cup is not a fairy tale where everything end  as our wish, it’s all about history in making. Goalkeeper, Iker Casillas - who let in seven goals in two games after having conceded none in the 10 games before - said, "We are sorry", one of the country's leading newspapers graciously responded saying, "Don't be, you have given us so much. It was lovely while it lasted."

Spain has been an outstanding football playing outfit who has put in some sterling performances in the world stage which will remain etched in the minds of football fans all over the globe. Nothing lasts forever - empires, dynasties, life itself. That's what makes the passing of one of the greatest sides in the history of any sport so poignant - and so human, because time takes its toll on the best of us.

Thank you, Spain and Good bye.

Japan and Greece Play Scoreless Draw: 2014 FIFA World Cup

Greece held on for a goalless draw against Japan in Natal on Thursday, ensuring Colombia will play in the round of 16 in Brazil.
Despite playing the entire second half with a numerical disadvantage after skipper Kostas Katsouranis was expelled seven minutes before half-time, Greece denied the misfiring Japanese at the Arena das Dunas as both teams picked up their first points of the World Cup.
Katsouranis went into the book for the first time in the 27th minute when he slid into the back of Yuya Osako and his trip to halt Japan captain Makoto Hasebe's break 11 minutes later was the end of his match.

The draw saw Colombia, who had defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 earlier on Thursday, secure a berth in the knockout stages at their first World Cup since 1998, as they lead Group C with six points with one game to play.

Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni made the brave decision of dropping Shinji Kagawa for Yoshito Okubo, while Yasuyuki Konno took Masato Morishige's spot in central defence.

Japan fans clear up litter after opening defeat to Ivory Coast...

Football fans may have a reputation for trashing stadiums after losing matches. But Japan supporters at the World cup took defeat to the Ivory Coast in a good spirit and consoled themselves by cleaning up their end of the stadium.
These pictures shouldn't have to be described as "incredible" or "surprising" but it's rare sight in the modern game-although not in Japan where regularly clear up after themselves both home and away.
And their side may have given up an early lead to suffer a 2-1 defeat in their opening Group C match at this summer's World Cup,but Japan fans still found time to pick up their litter at the Areana Pernambuco in Recifie.
